The Story

Eday is one of the beautiful Orkney islands, off the north coast of Scotland.

Eday produces limestone, as well as peat, a natural material cut from the ground, abundant in many locations in Scotland, and used for centuries as fuel.

Self-sufficiency and ecological developments are a major focus in Orkney.

Scottish government-backed European research facilities are based there, and Eday is home to a tidal power testing station. Sea power is an abundant natural resource in Orkney.
