Berneray is a beautiful island located in the Sound of Harris in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. Like many Scottish isles, Berneray shows evidence of being inhabited since the Bronze age. The island is rich with ancient ritual sites, stone circles, and shows evidence of Viking inhabitation. Berneray is especially known for its abundance of machairs, richly fertile plains lining the seashore. Scottish Gaelic is the native language to the poplulation of around 150 people who live on Berneray.
