Dundee

Dundee is a picturesque central Lowland Scottish town on the north bank of the River Tay, which feeds to the North Sea. Dundee’s success as a seaport trading town dates back to the 12th Century, and on the coronation of King John in 1292 it became a Royal Burgh.

Throughout its history, Dundee has been a pivotal town during times of conflict, being captured and recaptured by English forces, Robert the Bruce, the Marquess of Montrose, and the Jacobites.

Today, Dundee is promoted as 'One City, Many Discoveries' for its history of scientific activity, shipbuilding, biomedical and technological industries, and universities. The brand new Dundee Victoria & Albert Museum is set to open by 2015.
